The kids should be fed fresh (or frozen) goat's milk (not canned).
If you do not have access to goat's milk, use regular whole cow milk from
the grocery store. This is much better for them than goat milk replacer formula
which can cause diarrhea. Very often, problems with bottle fed kids
stem from the use of milk replacers. Allow them to eat all they want 3X’s a day (up to 24 oz.).
Be careful not to increase over an ounce at any one time.
You can start weaning at 8 weeks of age.
Just make all
changes slowly.Make sure they have hay and fresh clean water at all times.
I allow kids free choice grain, then when they are 4 weeks of age
I give them their grain for 10 minutes then take it away once a day.
You will need to offer free choice goat minerals.
Always make sure your goat has a good shelter, they can not tolerate being wet.
We do not recommend raising your goat alone, they are herd animals and need
the companionship of another, plus it helps keep them warm on cold winter nights.
Your goats hooves will need to be trimmed routinely.
A simple pair of pruning shears will do the trick.
